Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, is the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. It is the first of the three sacraments of initiation (Baptism, First Communion & Confirmation). Through Baptism we are freed from Original sin and reborn as sons of God.  We become members of the Body of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in the Church mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word".

Infants are usually Baptized prior to their first birthday.  Parents & Godparents receive instruction regarding the responsibilities each must accept and foster, which is to promote the spiritual growth of the child in the Catholic faith.  Older children (7 +) and adults old enough to understand the commitment professed with baptism are given extensive instruction prior to their receiving this first sacrament of initiation.  Parents & Godparents have the same responsibility to these older Christians.

IMPORTANT: Parents are the only ones authorized to register for child's baptism. If parents are separated, we need a letter of permission from the separated parent. Registration and guidance is available, in the Church Office, two months in advance of administering the sacrament of Baptism.

A copy of  the birth certificate is required at the time of registration and $50.00 registration fee.

Baptisms are held the last Saturday of the month at 4:30 pm

Parents and Godparents must be registered to St. Vincent. If they belong to another Church they must provide a Sponsor letter from their Church.
